The default copy-paste behavior has a major flaw: as soon as you copy something new, the previous item is gone forever. Windows has a built-in feature to fix this.

The Magic Shortcut

Instead of pressing Ctrl + V to paste, press Windows Key + V.

The first time you do this, Windows will ask you to 'Turn on' the Clipboard History. Click that button.

How to Use It

  1. 1Copy text or images as usual (Ctrl + C). do this multiple times for different items.
  2. 2When you are ready to paste, press Win + V.
  3. 3A menu appears showing your last 25 copied items.
  4. 4Click the one you want to paste.

Bonus: You can click the 'Pin' icon on specific items to keep them in your history even after you restart your computer!
